London Jazz Festival 2014 & Patchwork Launch Gig

The Patchwork Jazz Orchestra are performing at The Forge in Camden next Tuesday 18th November at 8pm. This gig marks the beginning of a new collective big band made up of some of the significant up-and-coming talent in London’s ever evolving jazz scene. The band formed as a way of bringing together a wider pool of like-minded musicians, with the aim of creating a vehicle for original contemporary music to be performed and explored in a large ensemble context.

The band’s debut performance will see the premiere of many brand new original works for the orchestra, written exclusively by a collection of the band’s own members including Scott Chapman, Kieran McLeod, Matthew Herd, Sam Rapley, Tom Green, Sam Miles and myself.

The collaborative nature of this project has resulted in a fine melting pot of influences from both performers and composers alike, reflected in the ensemble’s name. This London Jazz Festival gig promises to be an exciting evening of fresh, forward thinking music not to be missed!

Also in next week’s London Jazz Festival the Misha Mullov-Abbado Quintet will be performing at The Green Note in Camden the day after (Wednesday 19th) along with the Cervantes Quintet. This is part of a run of gigs before we record our album at Giant Wafer Studios in March.

The day before (Monday 17th) I will be playing with the Tom Green Septet at The Spice Of Life and later on with the Tori Handsley Trio at The Vortex. Both should be awesome! And on Thursday 20th the finalists from the Worshipful Company finalists at 229 The Venue with Andy Panayi and Tom Cawley.
